Sunrise of Silver Spring was very nice, but the rooms were a little small. My wife had a lot of things wrong with her, which requires her to have quite a bit of stuff around her, and I thought the rooms were quite small for that. They had a recreation room and a very nice dining facility. The people I saw there seemed to be very content. I was a patient at Lay hill for three weeks for physical and occupational therapy following a total knee replacement.

Just then the sister walked into the room and surprised the kid by giving him some peanut butter and cheese crackers. I thought it was so touching to see someone be so kind to a stranger. Fox Chase was a good spot for what we needed. It was clean and had enough workers to take care of my sister. That must be a function of the design for the windows.
This clean community has large hallways which are easily accessible to wheelchairs. I do not live in the same state as our loved one but I do get information from my brother in law. My father in law seems to have adjusted well. The last time we saw him, he seemed happier than we have seen him in a while. They do take him and wheel him to places rot participate by observing which is what makes him happy. I would absolutely recommend this community to anyone looking, we have had a good experience besides a small issue in the beginning, but that was resolved fairly quickly.

I had always had a negative opinion of assisted living facilities because of horror stories I had heard on the news. My first visit to Sunrise, I was delighted by the elegance and decor in the lobby.
I like the way they get them up and out into the day room where they can interact with other patients — or other residents rather — because they do not treat them like patients. They treat them like people who live there. The staff is very attentive like they are there all the time. They are very caring, and they treat the residents with respect and affection; I love that. She has dementia, so she does not do too much of the activities, but they do have games. I am very comfortable leaving her there.

They were served on linen tablecloths with linen napkins, it was lovely. Sunrise was very clean and very orderly. The staff was very professional, nice, and helpful.
My brother is in Arcola Health and Rehabilitation Center. I won’t really call them attentive, but due to everything, everybody who’s been there, and what’s going on, I can understand. They could also give more feedback to the families with what’s going on, considering you can’t actually go in any time you want to see everybody, and you have to make an appointment. And now you have to have COVID tests several days before you visit. It’s only two levels, the reception area was really small, and the administration section where they log people in is also small, but the people are nice.

They have a lot of people attending to the patients. I went there at different times of the day, and every time I went, my mom was clean, happy, and healthy. They do not just leave people lying around in beds getting bedsores.
They have different sizes, and different floorplans. Tven the smallest ones seemed comfortable, and well-maintained. They seemed to have physical exercise, entertainment, music, and activities; like crafts, and games. They have excursions, e.g., where they go to the store or take them out to a concert. My experience with Sunrise of Silver Spring was up and down.

Prices in Silver Spring are also higher than the Maryland average of $10,190. I was invited to an open house in Riderwood Village. They showed apartments – one bedroom, two bedroom or three-bedroom apartments. Activities are the usual mix of things, depends on what your interests are. My wife has been in the rehab there in the past where she enjoyed playing the piano and the food was very good.
